Quite true, however in quite a few forums the lines are some what blur when it comes to focus. For instance my forum is mainly for road trip enthusiasts, however since most of the members of the forum are bikers, one can some what mistake it for an auto forum.

In any case, it never hurts to have an about us page, if nothing it will make your moderators and staff feel proud for being featured on the site “officially”. I know mine were after seeing their photos on the about us page :).

I think that forums can do well without an 'About Us' page, as long as the theme and subject matter of the forum is obvious.

I think having an 'About Us' page is far more important on blogs where it is important to establish the authority of the author.
