Why deep linking is good
Deep linking is the process of linking to sub pages instead of linking to the home page of a website. While it might look like a good idea to link to your home page in an effort to raise its page rank, deep linking strategy can prove to be an effective means of not only getting more visitors to your site, but also to monetize it well.
This is due to the fact that people are generally looking for content, not websites. Content which more often than not is missing from the home page of a website and is actually present in one of the numerous sub pages. If a visitor comes directly to the article/product page, chances of him/her going through the article or buying the product are much grater than in case they had come to the home page of your website. This will also help build page rank for those sub pages, which would eventually lead to them getting a better place in search engine results and since all the pages are eventually linked to your website’s home page, some PR would be passed on to it.
Here are few effective ways of deep linking to success:
1. Internal links: Always link to the other pages of your website, it not only helps the visitors find the information easily, it also helps to pass the PR to the other pages of your site. For instance, if I were to write SEO in some article then I would link it to the SEO definition present on this blog, like this” SEO.
2. Article Submissions: You can write an article yourself or get it written for a small fee. In these articles, strategically place 2-3 links to other articles/product pages of your website and then submit them to various Article Directories. People who like the article will pick it up and put it on their website, which will provide you free one way links!
3. Forum Signatures: Forum Signatures are great way to link to an article, just remember to use the appropriate anchor text while doing so and you will not only get the benefit of links, you will also receive quite a bit of traffic.
4. Social Bookmarking: Social bookmarking websites such as Reddit and Netscape are not only a great source of traffic; they also provide useful back links. Submitting your link to them hardly takes any time so do try it today.
