Updating content for relevancy
It’s been a while since I posted on Content Pays and I feel I am guilty for not doing so. However in my defense, I had been busy generating more and more content for my main site and at the same time updating the existing content.
Which brings me back to today’s post, after having developed and continuously working on a content site for a long period, it is easy to forget that in order to attract more and more visitors you have to not only keep adding new content on a regular basis, you have to ensure the older content doesn’t loose its relevance by becoming outdated with information no one requires any longer.
While few niches and articles are evergreen and require little, if any, updates, unfortunately or fortunately my niche is not one of them, and it requires constant updates to ensure it serves the purpose of my sites visitors. And some time it means, I have to completely rewrite these articles, which essentially is an SEO nightmare.
However having the choice of either giving old irrelevant information or taking a beating in the search engine ratings by completely rewriting few articles, I chose the later option, maybe to my own peril.
Will the search engine gods show mercy on a mere mortal like me or will this be the end of it all, watch this space…
