New directories with Google Page Rank?

While browsing through webmaster forums, one often comes across submission solicitation from directory owners, who have recently launched their directories.

While I quite often submit to these directories, since they usually have a quick and high acceptance rate. I often skip out on directories where the owner claims the directory is new and yet it has Page Rank.

Why?

Most often than not, that directory’s domain is a dropped domain or is recently purchased from the domain name aftermarket. This in turn means that majority of the backlinks pointing to that particular directory aren’t relevant, and it is highly likely that the Page Rank of that directory would be reduced by Google in next PR update.

This in majority of the cases also shows lack of experience and/or commitment on behalf of the directory owner. This in turn means that such directories would likely not provide my sites with quality/long term backlinks.

While I can be a little less discerning about submitting to free directories employing such tactics, I wouldn’t like to waste my hard earned money on such paid directories and neither should you!
