Majority of webmasters are afraid of google!

When I was writing yesterday’s post “Are majority of webmasters afraid of google?”. I decided to conduct a poll at Digital Point, about whether or not people feel they are being bullied by google.

This was especially important since I had gotten the idea of the post, by reading threads ranging from “Google: We are afraid to edit our sites!!!” to “Does changing hosts affect PR?” and countless others at Digital Point.

24 hours later though it hasn’t received as big a response as I was hoping it would, my predictions were correct. Out of 25 webmasters who took part is this poll, a whopping 52% felt they were being bullied by google, 24% didn’t felt that way, 12% choose not to express their opinion and another 12% went for the last and funny choice “Don’t want to comment cause the big bad google might read it!”.

However out of the 22 comments I received there and 1 in this blog, the only comment I feel is worth mentioning is this post is a comment made by Martin Reed, who said “People put far too much effort into worrying about Google and the other search engines.

As I wrote in a recent article, don’t obsess about search engines - if you have good content, decent rankings will come naturally.”

I feel this is the correct approach which we as webmaster should undertake, however as it happens in the “real world”. People believe in taking shortcuts and bribing their way to the top rather than focusing on key to success, HARD WORK!

Doesn’t matter if you are running an online business or an offline one, the key to success is hard work.

The day you understand this and start working on your goals relentlessly, you will achieve success. Remember search engines are only one way of bringing visitors to your sites, there are tons of other ways to make your site popular and increase the visitor count.

However it is the content in the end which decides whether or not that first visit by a web surfer would result in many more visits by him/her and their word of mouth publicity of your website.

So work hard, create relevant and quality content if you want to build a successful site.
