Knownhost 4 month review

Any one running an online business knows the importance of having a solid and reliable hosting platform to run their blogs, forums, eshops and sites. Make a wrong choice on this aspect and you might just end up with a host that oversells a lot (every host oversells) and has a dismal uptime and customer service record.

When I first started my personal website, I bought hosting and domain from Godaddy due to their relatively cheap plans and a bundle offer. Due to which I got the domain along with two months of hosting on their basic plan for a little over US $10.

For the next few months I never did once encounter any problems with their service, even though participation on forums like WHT and Sitepoint made me aware of their pathetic customer service.

However being the lazy bum I am, I continued to host my site with them and even brought another domain and basic plan. However I did encounter a few issues with their service which made aware of their <sarcasm>excellent customer service</sarcasm> and I knew it was only a matter of time, before I would switch to another host.

In December last year, I had to launch another website; time was perfect to search for another host. Although at first I thinking of purchasing a VPS, however a bad stint with a VPS provider saw me looking at reseller accounts. This is where Knownhost came in, at that time they were running a promotion campaign, which meant I would only have to pay US $ 10 for the first month on their KH Pro+ plan.

I decided to take the plunge and brought their KH Pro+ plan and gradually started switching my sites over to their server. I was pleasantly surprised with the performance boost I got on my phpbb based forum, while any query of mine was answered by their customer support representatives in a matter of minutes.

Even though I did face few snags with their service, but never once in the past four months has there been a serious outage, and even those issues were resolved in a prompt and courteous manner.

Based on my experience of past four months with their service, I would highly recommend them to every one.
