Are your member’s profiles safe from the praying eyes?

A few days back I was working as usual when I got a message on yahoo messenger from a person I didn’t knew. It was in relation to a review I had posted on one of my website and he had a genuine query about it. Though I went ahead and answered it, I realized how easy it was for him or for that matter anyone else to get my messenger id by going to my profile in the forum and that too without even having to register on the forum.

Some thing I found a bit discomforting and something I am sure my members wouldn’t appreciate either. So I finally took the decision to block guest viewing of member profile and member list, after all if a person cant even take couple of minutes out of his/her busy schedule to register at your forum, why should they be allowed to view private information pertaining to your members?

To disable guest viewing of user profiles in vBulletin go to Usergroups - Usergroup Manager - Chose to edit Unregistered / Not Logged in usergroup - Scroll down to General Permissions - Choose No infront of Can View Member Info, viola your done.

Have fun….
